ABOUT ME

Multidisciplinary Artist
& Creative Producer

CONNI MCKENZIE, is a multidisciplinary artist and producer working across dance theater, video production, mixed media, and photography. Her work explores embodied experience, environmental connection, and the social histories embedded in place.

In 2021, she released her first film, Set Me Free, which screened at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival and festivals internationally. That same year, she co-directed Lungs of the Earth, a short film presented at the Bay Area Shorts Festival and in the All That You Touch exhibition at Thatcher Gallery.

In 2023, McKenzie directed Flow, an immersive, multi-room exhibition and dance performance examining flow states and environmental awareness, developed through the Dresher Ensemble Artist Residency (DEAR) with New Performance Traditions. She later led the inaugural ABUNDANCE workshop series during her BASE residency with PUSH Dance Company, a community-centered project supporting BIPOC artists in challenging scarcity-driven frameworks through embodiment, storytelling, and diasporic movement practices.

Her recent body of work includes Borrowed (2024–2025), a site-specific dance performance and nature immersion project examining environmental exploitation and its impact on marginalized communities. Developed across two chapters, Borrowed premiered in the Morongo Basin and concluded with performances in the Bay Area, supported by the California Arts Council and the San Francisco Arts Commission. McKenzie is also the artist behind Roots, Tides, Leaves, a photographic project documenting relationships between land, water, and community through long-term engagement with place.

She is currently an MFA candidate in Communication at the Royal College of Art and is building Creative Works Studio and its creative brand, The Creative Seen.

Through scenic photography, nature-inspired art, and thoughtfully designed stationery, the work documents moments of stillness, movement, and place—inviting people to slow down, notice their surroundings, and reconnect with the outdoors in accessible ways.

Extending beyond the page, The Creative Seen also includes a YouTube channel dedicated to adventure and exploration, offering reflections on movement through landscapes and the role of curiosity, presence, and nature in daily life.
